I saw The Kingfisher but wasn't able to eat there a few months ago -- but because everyone eating there appeared to be a local, I made a mental note to return. Today, I managed to find the place again, and I wasn't disappointed. They served me a slab of haddock filet, with a crispy fried exterior and a meaty, juicy interior. The chips were hot and perfect.
The other reviewer noted that they are "pricey," but that's because they aren't serving fish sticks. An old-timer in the restaurant told me that The Kingfisher is "the best fish shop in town," and I see no reason to doubt him. -

We were really hoping for some great fish and chips while visiting London. After having fish and chips twice and not liking them we were losing hope. Someone told us about Kingfisher, and it didn't disappoint. We had the cod. The fish was delicious and it didn't have the skin on it. The batter was light and crunchy and the fish was tender and juicy. The chips tasted like potatoes. There was quite the line, but we figured that meant it was good. We didn't have to wait very long for our food. We had is wrapped up to go (there are not tables or chairs) and walked to the park to eat our meal.
The serving size is very generous. Three of us ate a total of 3 pieces of cod and a small serving of chips, and we had food leftover. -

Just a small fish 'n chip shop with no frills (and no beer). Serves decent fish 'n chip albeit pricey. Malt vinegar on the table was on the weak side. Service was very pleasant.
